Stress-Free Care
At Children’s Dental Center, our goal is to provide a stress-free dental experience for your child. That’s why we offer kids’ dental sedation at our Memphis offices.
Information On Kids Dental Sedation
We understand that anxiety and fear can be common at dental appointments, and our mission is to alleviate those concerns. We always work to create an environment that promotes confidence and happiness for both your child and you.
While laughing gas can be effective for many, some may require a bit more help. We believe that oral conscious sedation (OCS) can be an effective solution for children who may feel uneasy during their visit. This involves your child drinking a special medication containing a mixture of two different medications to help them feel more relaxed.
After taking the medication, it takes time for the sedative effects to take hold. During this time, our staff will wait with your child until they are ready to begin the treatment phase of their visit.
During the visit, we may also use nitrous oxide and oxygen to help enhance the sedative effect.
The goal of OCS is not to render your child unconscious but rather to make them more comfortable and at ease. Our doctors have received specialized training in offering this treatment option, and we are committed to making your child's visit as comfortable and positive as possible.
Our doctors closely monitor the patient's heart rate and oxygen levels throughout the procedure to ensure their safety. While some patients may be drowsy and comfortable enough to close their eyes or doze off, they are still responsive to instructions and actively participate in the appointment.
Children’s Dental Center is committed to providing the highest level of care for your child, and our use of oral conscious sedation is just one of the ways we help make their dental experience as positive and stress-free as possible.
